Watchword for the Week

For we do not proclaim ourselves;

we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord

and ourselves as servants for Jesus’ sake.

(2 Corinthians 4:5)

(Moravian Daily Texts 2018)

ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Psalm 50:1-6 – New International Version)

The Mighty One, God, the LORD,

speaks and summons the earth from the rising

of the sun to the place where it sets.

God shines forth from Mount Zion,

perfect in beauty.

Our God comes and will not be silent;

a fire devours before him,

and around him a tempest rages.

He summons the heavens above, and the

earth, that he may judge his people:

“Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made

a covenant with me by sacrifice.”

And the heavens proclaim his

righteousness, for God himself is judge.

Hymn 137 (1) * All things bright and beautiful

PRAYER of APPROACH

God of light and love,

forgive us when we simply do not believe in your

better world enough to invest ourselves in it,

when we are so afraid of the dark

that we hide under cover

rather than venture towards the light.

Forgive us when we do not

shelter each other, but leave the most

fragile to fend for themselves.

God of all, including what is yet to be,

give us courage to use our gifts for your good.

If we do that, the best is yet to come,

so come and change us.

When our spirits are lifted high and our world is

dazzling white, brimming with newness and

potential – Christ who inspires,

you are here to transfigure us.

When our spirits are weighed down

and our world is heavy with failure and

confusion, Christ who inspires,

you are here to transfigure us.

Christ of all, forgive us when we’d rather be

transported out of hard times,

when we’d rather be transferred to a calling

more suited to our taste.

Christ of all,

you are here to transfigure us.

When we are transfixed by things, turn us

round and introduce us to each other again.

You are here to bring us together as your body

and send us out to love the world back to life.

Repentance means to turn around and do things

differently. Turn us round, God, and set us

straight. Amen.

Hymn 357 * This is my will, my new command

(Hymn of the Month, February 2018)

DECLARATION of FORGIVENESS

Sisters and brothers, receive the good news:

the light of Christ shines in our darkness,

to bring light and life to all. By the gift of Christ,

your sins are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Amen.

DEDICATION PRAYER

(Source: PC Cameroon Book of Divine Services)

Lord our Maker, from you comes all that we

have and all that we are. Accept these our

gifts as a sign of our gratitude for your lifegiving

word and for all the mercies you have

shown to us. Bless our offerings for the

welfare of your people for whom your Son

gave his life. Take even our lives, and let

them be wholly dedicated to your service;

through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord.

Amen.

The LORD’S PRAYER

(Please pray in your own preferred language / version.)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be

thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this

day our daily bread; and forgive us our

trespasses as we forgive those who trespass

against us. And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the

kingdom, the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.
