WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Source: Ecumenical Celebration for Christian Unity Week)

With Christians throughout the world, let us call

upon the Holy Spirit to set our hearts on fire as

we pray for the unity of the Church.

Unite your servants in the bond of unity.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Teach us to pray.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Liberate us from the slavery of sin.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Help us in our weakness.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Restore us as your children.

Come, Holy Spirit!

PRAYER of APPROACH

(Source: PC Cameroon Book of Divine Services)

Merciful God, we humble ourselves in your

presence, confessing our unworthiness and

sinfulness in your sight. We have broken your

holy law. We have not sought first your kingdom

and righteousness. We have been anxious and

troubled about many things, and have neglected

the things that belong to our inner peace.

We have not loved our neighbour as

ourselves, or done to others as we would

like them to do to us.

Most gracious God, you have given your Son,

Jesus Christ, to save your people from their sins;

therefore we plead with you:

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

The LORD’S PRAYER

(Please pray in your own preferred language / version.)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be

thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this

day our daily bread; and forgive us our

trespasses as we forgive those who trespass

against us. And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the

kingdom, the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.
