Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right. (2 Thessalonians 3:13)

(Moravian Daily Texts 2016)

ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Verses from Psalm 98)

Sing for joy to the Lord, all the earth;

Praise him with songs and shouts of joy!

Sing praises to the Lord! Play music on the harps! Blow trumpets and horns, and shout for joy to the Lord, our king.

Roar, sea, and every creature in you;

sing, earth, and all who live on you!

Clap your hands, you rivers; you hills,

sing together with joy before the Lord,

because he comes to rule the earth.

He will rule the peoples of the world

with justice and fairness.

Hymn 157 * Sing of the Lord’s goodness

PRAYER of APPROACH

God, you have promised us a new creation,

but we live amidst the old and, everywhere,

scenes of destruction fill our lives.

God, you are creating a world of equity, plenty,

justice, and peace right now, but where can we

glimpse it, your new realm?

God, the seeds of your realm lie within us;

you nurture them to life. God, we will trust in

your promise and look now for its fulfillment.

We will be people of hope;

we will be people of joy.

We thank you, our great God, for your steady

love, for your creation, and all you are doing

now to heal, build and sustain it in goodness

and beauty. May the vision of what you are

doing connect us to you in profound ways.

We pray and work for your realm,

within and among us,

singing your praise, now and always.

Amen.

WORDS of ASSURANCE

As we have the courage to meet God humbly

and with hope, we can be part of God’s new

creation. Receive God’s forgiveness and love,

and share new life in God’s realm.

Thanks be to God. Amen.

Hymn 561 * Blessed assurance

PRAYERS for OTHERS

Response: Cleanse us, O God:

and renew us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be

thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this

day our daily bread. And forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who

trespass against us. And lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine

is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.
