we are justified by faith, we have peace with

God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

(Moravian Daily Texts 2013)

(Psalm 8)

O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!

Your praise reaches up to the heavens;it is sung by children and babies. You are safe and secure from all your enemies;you stop anyone who opposes you.

Hymn 251 v.1* I, the Lord of sea and sky

People’s Choice Hymns are marked with an asterisk (*)

When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places – what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals, that you care for them? You made them inferior only to yourself; you crowned them with glory and honour.

Hymn 251 v.2* I, the Lord of snow and rain

You appointed them as rulers over everything you made; you placed them over all creation: sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too; the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas. O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!

Hymn 251 v.3* I, the Lord of wind and flame

For the protecting, providing hand of ourCreator, nourishing and nurturing, we give ourthanks:

we bring our praise with joyful hearts.

For the courage and compassion of Christ, sacrificing and regaining a Kingdom for us, we give our thanks:

we bring our praise with joyful hearts.

For the refreshing sweep of the Holy Spirit over stagnant waters, stirring us up, we give our thanks:

we bring our praise with joyful hearts.

God of love, known to us as Creator, as Christ, as Spirit; one God, beyond our understanding, we confess we are a mass of contradictions. We blow hot and cold, we are two-faced; we tell different stories to different people to suit ourselves. We have mood swings, fads and phases, following new fashions and changing to please our friends.

Forgive us, God, and change us.

We look into your face, O God: You are Three; You are One. Lord, there is no contradiction in you; you are not three-faced! You are Love. Trusting that love to forgive our fragmented values and our mixedup ways, we come before you to ask forgiveness. Forgive us, God, and change us.

Hymn 493 * It’s me, it’s me, O Lord

We have been put right with God through faith, and we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks be to God! Amen.

1. Oh, a body can’t walk with its nose,

and a body can’t eat with its toes.

‘Cause each little member

has a special work to do

to make the body grow.’

2. Oh, I can’t do without you,

and you can’t do without me.

And how can an eye sit on a chair?

Holy God: help us to know you more.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
