Watchword for the Week
For the Son of Man came not to be served but to
serve and to give his life a ransom for many.

ORGAN PRELUDE
WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP
(Verses from Psalm 104)
Praise the LORD, my soul!
O LORD, my God, how great you are!
You are clothed with majesty and glory;
you cover yourself with light.
You have spread out the heavens like a tent
and built your home on the waters above.
Praise the LORD, my soul!
O LORD, my God, how great you are!
You use the clouds as your chariot
and ride on the wings of the wind.
You use the winds as your messengers
and flashes of lightning as your servants.
LORD, you have made so many things!
How wisely you made them all!
The earth is filled with your creatures.
There is the ocean, large and wide,
where countless creatures live,
large and small alike. The ships sail on it,
and in it plays Leviathan,
the sea monster which you made.
Praise the LORD, my soul!
O LORD, my God, how great you are!
Praise the LORD, my soul!
Praise the LORD!

PRAYER of APPROACH and CONFESSION
Shadow beyond shadows,
Mystery beyond mysteries,
Silence at the centre of all things,
dwelling in the darkness of matter and mind,
hidden in nature’s order,
invisible in the human soul,
Wisdom is our Lover,
the Divine Essence the very life within us,
breath of our breath, deeper than any dream.
We praise you, Holy God,
Father, Son and Eternal Spirit.
Grace upon grace, with serene tenderness,
in his hands Jesus holds the broken,
the confused, those wrestling with divided
loyalties, with dark thoughts and inner demons,
our worship of this world’s treasures.
Christ of God, you know the burdens we carry,
the memories of shame, failure and hurts
inflicted, our shortcomings and inadequacies.
Sit with us now. May we be aware of your
presence, your understanding, compassion,
and the gaze of your love.
Touch our soul with the Father’s Infinite Beauty.
Come, embrace us;
dwell within us and change us, lift us to new life,
and lead us once more to your table
of forgiveness, healing and wholeness.
As the Father is in you and you in the Father,
O Christ, may you be in us, and we in you.
May we be one; our soul, your temple.
Empty us, Holy Spirit,
of all that corrupts our conscience.
We crave inner renewal:
fill us with Eternity’s light,
with sparks of holiness,
that faithfulness, humility and joy
may be the chief marks of our character.
Inspired by the saints,
may we love ourselves and others
as we are loved by you. Amen.
ASSURANCE of FORGIVENESS
Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon
and deliver you from all your wrongs, and grant
you time for the amendment of life. Amen.
