ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Verses from Psalm 98)

Sing a new song to the Lord;

he has done wonderful things!

By his own power and holy strength

he has won the victory. He has made

his saving power known to the nations.

Sing to the Lord, all the earth;

praise him with songs and shouts of joy!

Sing praises to the Lord!

Play music on the harps!

Blow trumpets and horns,

and shout for joy to the Lord, our king.

Roar, sea, and every creature in you;

sing, earth, and all who live on you!

Clap your hands, you rivers; you hills,

sing together with joy before the Lord!

He comes to rule the earth.

He will rule the peoples of the world

with justice and fairness.

PRAYER of APPROACH

O God, you are Lord of heaven and earth;

you made the world and everything in it.

Let the peoples praise you, O God.

Let all the peoples praise you.

You give to all mortals life and breath;

in you we live and move and have our being.

Let the peoples praise you, O God.

Let all the peoples praise you.

May all the earth rejoice in you,

breaking forth into joyous songs of praise.

Let the peoples praise you, O God.

Let all the peoples praise you.

Gracious God, you love us all, whatever we are

like. We confess with shame how difficult we

find it to love others as you love us.

When we find it hard to get along with those who

are not like us: God, in your mercy, forgive us.

When we speak to those we know and ignore

those we don’t: God, in your mercy, forgive us.

When we give generously to those in need far

away and pass by those in our own community:

God, in your mercy, forgive us.

When we welcome those who adopt our ways of

living and reject those who don’t:

God, in your mercy, forgive us.

When we let differences of age, gender, race or

religion, country or culture separate us:

God, in your mercy, forgive us.

Hymn 776 * Kyrie eleison

WORDS of ASSURANCE (from 1 John)

This is love: not that we love God, but that God

loves us. We love because God first loved us. In

the name of Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
