Watchword for the Week
For now we see in a mirror, dimly,
but then we will see face to face.

ORGAN PRELUDE
WELCOME and OPENING RESPONSES
(Psalm 71:1-6)
In you, O Lord, I take refuge;
never let me be defeated.
In your righteousness,
help me and rescue me.
Listen to me and save me!
Be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to protect me.
For you are my refuge and defence.
Rescue me, my God, from the wicked,
from the power of those
who are unjust and cruel.
Sovereign Lord, you are my hope,
I have trusted in you from my youth.
I have relied on you from my birth;
you took me from my mother’s womb.
I will always praise you!

PRAYER of APPROACH & CONFESSION
Lord God, you are the God who calls us:
who calls us where we would rather not go;
who calls us to speak
when we would rather not speak;
who calls us to face
what we would rather not face.
Lord God, you are the God
whose love goes ahead of us;
whose judgement forges new ways; whose
voice creates and castigates and cares.
When you call us, we are never prepared,
never equipped, never ready.
But still you call us;
still you send us; still you depend on us.
So we praise you for your faith in us;
even as we confess our lack of faith in you.
We praise you for your limitless love for the
world; even as we confess how much
we limit that love.
We praise you for your confidence that your
people and your world can respond to your love;
even as we confess our limited hope,
our limited faith, and our limited love.
Take our limitations and transform us,
speak to us and through us today,
and make of us what you want for tomorrow.
May we be constantly amazed how you use
us to be the answer to the prayers for your
world! Amen.
WORDS of ASSURANCE
The good news is that when we trust in God,
we will discover that the courage, love, and
strength God gives us enable us to do greater
things than we have ever known.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

DEDICATION PRAYER
Holy and loving God, doing your will and
living out the ministry you give us can be
scary. It’s not just our gifts and offerings you
ask of us – you ask everything: our lives, our
attitudes, our actions, and our service. Take
our lives and show us how to live as you
have called us, that we may be faithful and
serve you in our world. Amen.
NOTICES and PRAYERS for OTHERS
Response: Lord God, you call us;
Help us to follow.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread. And forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
