Watchword for the Week
For those who live according to the flesh set
their minds on the things of the flesh, but those
who live according to the Spirit* set their minds
on the things of the Spirit.
(Romans 8: 5)

ORGAN PRELUDE
WELCOME and INVITATION to WORSHIP
(Based on Psalm 65: 1-8)
Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion; and to you
shall vows be performed,
O you who answer prayer! To you all flesh
shall come.
When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us, you
forgive our transgressions.
Happy are those whom you choose and
bring near to live in your courts. We shall be
satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
By awesome deeds you answer us with
deliverance, O God of our salvation; you are the
hope of all the ends of the earth and of the
farthest seas.
By your strength you established the
mountains; you are girded with might.
You silence the roaring of the seas, the roaring
of their waves, the tumult of the peoples.
Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are
awed by your signs; you make the gateways
of the morning and the evening shout for joy

PRAYER of CONFESSION
God of grace and compassion we draw close to
You in our time of worship knowing that we are
unworthy of Your love and forgiveness, and yet
You freely forgive us. Hear us now as we tell
You of the wrongs we have done. Help us to see
the error of our ways and to put right the wrong
we have done. Give us wisdom and
understanding to go forward into the world as
Your forgiven and restored people.
Forgive our frail and human ways and
cultivate in us a spirit of trust and
faithfulness, for you are our hope for
deliverance. Be Thou exalted, Amen.
WORDS of ASSURANCE
Brothers and sisters when deeds of iniquity
overwhelm us God forgives our transgressions.
Be at peace, for God restores and strengthens
you and waters your soul in its parched and
hardened places.
You are the source of all growth; may your
grace abound forever. AMEN
