Watchword for the Week
“You have been born anew, not of perishable
but of imperishable seed, through the living and
enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:23)

ORGAN PRELUDE
WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP
(Verses from Psalm 116)
I love the LORD, because he hears me;
he listens to my prayers.
He listens to me every time I call to him.
The danger of death was all round me;
the horror of the grave closed in on me;
I was filled with fear and anxiety.
Then I called to the LORD,
“I beg you, Lord, save me!”
I am your servant, LORD;
you have saved me from death.
I will give you a sacrifice of thanksgiving
and offer my prayer to you;
in the assembly of all your people
I will give you what I have promised.
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! Amen!.

OPENING PRAYER
O God, we gather with open hearts ready to
receive the new life you give. Open our eyes, we
pray, that your presence might be revealed in
the community that is gathered here, and in the
bread that is broken and shared.
Forgive us for the times we have imposed
burdens of guilt or shame on others, instead of
proclaiming the freedom that you offer each of
us. Father, forgive us.
Forgive us for the times we have not offered
hospitality to others, and for the times we have
missed opportunities to meet you in one
another. Father, forgive us.
Forgive us for the times we as a community of
faith have turned people away from God.
Father, forgive us.
Forgive us when we exclude others; remind us
that your promise is for all. Amen.
Hymn 359 * He came down…
(adding verses beginning: “He’s risen…”)
