WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(from a Hasidic song based on Psalm 78)

Open your ears, O faithful people, open your ears and hear God’s Word. Open your hearts, O royal priesthood, God has come to you. God has spoken to the people, hallelujah! God has spoken words of wisdom, hallelujah!

They who have ears to hear the message, they who have ears, now let them hear. They who would learn the way of wisdom, let them hear God’s Word. God has spoken to the people, hallelujah! God has spoken words of wisdom, hallelujah!

What we have heard, we’ll teach our children; may they have ears to hear God’s Word. Let us through every generation make God’s wonders known. God has spoken to the people, hallelujah! God has spoken words of wisdom, hallelujah!

PRAYER OF ADORATION AND CONFESSION

Our one desire is to learn from you, for you seek us, you lead us, and your grace is multiplied to meet our need. Lord God, we adore you. Our one desire is to love you, in sincerity, with faithfulness, gathering all that we are to serve you in praise. Lord God, we adore you. Our one desire is to obey you, in waiting, in keeping watch, preparing to respond in the moment you call. Lord God, we adore you.

O God of liberty, we cry out to you for freedom from all that imprisons us: the pride of soul which causes us to deceive ourselves; the corruption of our common values which causes unfairness in our dealings with each other; the ideologies of violence which lead to injustice between people: Let justice flow

like endless waters, and righteousness like a stream which never fails.

O God of liberty, we cry out to you that we may be believed in the radiance of your wisdom, seek the unfolding of your righteous will, wait for your love present in every moment, and obey the disciplines of your grace, that your reign may be fulfilled in every place: Let justice flow

like endless waters, and righteousness like a stream which never fails.

WORDS of ASSURANCE

Our God is generous in wisdom, sincerity, hope, and faithfulness. And it is his wish that we too should be wise and sincere, filled with hope and faithfulness, and generous in sharing these gifts with others. Thanks be to God. Amen.
