Watchword for the Week

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without

wavering, for God who has promised is faithful.

ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Verses from Psalm 16)

Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety.

I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord;

all the good things I have come from you.”

How excellent are the Lord’s faithful people!

My greatest pleasure is to be with them.

You, LORD, are all I have, and you give

me all I need; my future is in your hands.

How wonderful are your gifts to me;

how good they are!

I praise the LORD, because he guides me,

and in the night my conscience warns me.

I am always aware of the LORD’s presence;

he is near, and nothing can shake me.

I have served you faithfully, and you will not

abandon me to the world of the dead.

You will show me the path that leads to life;

your presence fills me with joy

and brings me pleasure for ever.

PRAYER of ADORATION and CONFESSION

Thank you, Maker of us all,

for your faithfulness to us.

Thank you, Friend of sinners,

that your friendship never fails us.

Thank you, Mysterious Guide,

for standing forever with us.

Join us in this time of wonder and praise,

and journey with us from this place

into your new and glorious world.

We are sorry, O God,

for the times that we have not lived

our lives as people of your hope and promise.

We confess that our relationships have suffered

when our thoughts, words, and deeds

have not been reflections

of the grace that we have received from you.

When things seem to be collapsing around us,

forgive us, and renew our faith in you.

We are sorry, O God,

for building temples that will not last.

We confess that too often we have put our trust

in the goods of the world.

We confess that too often we have

judged our own worth and the worth of others

by possessions and income levels.

When things seem to be collapsing around us,

forgive us, and renew our faith in you.

We are sorry, O God,

when we disregard things of this age,

when we treat the Earth with contempt,

and when we ignore the day to day needs of

others because we are caught up in excitement

about the ending of the world.

When things seem to be collapsing around us,

forgive us, and renew our faith in you.

ASSURANCE of FORGIVENESS

In the Bible, God declares: “I won’t remember

their sins and their lawless behaviour anymore”.

So friends, know that God is eager to write off all

we have done, and seeks to start over with us.

Let go of that which bothers you, and embrace

God’s forgiveness and unending love.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
