Watchword for the Week

Let the peoples praise you, O God;

let all the peoples praise you. (Psalm 67:5)

(Moravian Daily Texts 2014)

ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Psalm 133)

How wonderful it is, how pleasant,

for God’s people to live together in harmony!

It is like the precious anointing oil

running down from Aaron’s head and beard,

down to the collar of his robes;

It is like the dew on Mount Hermon,

falling on the hills of Zion.

That is where the Lord has promised his

blessing – life that never ends.

Hymn 257 * Singing, we gladly worship

OPENING PRAYER

O God of all people, we come to worship you

because you make us one great rainbow family,

with different gifts and abilities, ages and

experiences, backgrounds and insights.

May the peoples praise you, O God:

May all the peoples praise you.

O God of all people, we come to rejoice in your

loving power which overcomes the barriers we

build between ourselves.

May the peoples praise you, O God:

May all the peoples praise you.

O God of all people, we come to celebrate

together, to receive your forgiveness of our sins,

to hear your good news and to go in your name

to proclaim your love.

May the peoples praise you, O God:

May all the peoples praise you.

O Lord, you challenge us to be hospitable, to

discover those who are different from us. You

continually invite us to bridge the gaps, to open

the doors, to break down the walls which we

create to make us separate.

O Lord, help us and be with us as we seek:

to cross the chasms of misunderstanding

and fear; to dare to open our doors which

shut out and exclude; to dismantle the walls

which divide and separate.

Teach us to live together, share together, learn

together, celebrate together, and together to be

one people. We ask it in Jesus’ name. Amen.

CHILDREN’S TIME

ASSURANCE of PARDON

Thus says the Lord: Peace, peace, to the far

and to the near, and I will heal you. For I will not

accuse for ever, nor will I always be angry; for

from me proceeds the Spirit, and I have made

the breath of life. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Hymn 798 * The peace of the earth

The peace of the earth be with you,

the peace of the heavens too;

the peace of the rivers be with you,

the peace of the oceans too.

Deep peace falling over you;

God’s peace growing in you.
