Watchword for the Week

You shall be holy for I, the Lord your God, am holy. (Leviticus 19:2) (Moravian Daily Texts 2014)

ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(verses from Psalm 90)

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You turn us back to dust, and say, “Turn back, you mortals.”

For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night.

You sweep them away; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning;

in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.

Turn, O Lord! How long? Have compassion on your servants!

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

PRAYER of APPROACH

Lord of all being, we love you with all our hearts and souls and minds. We love you because we see your love in every part of our lives. We sense that your love is woven into all the joys and the pain, there in the glories and in the heartbreak. You are indeed Lord of all we know. Hear us we pray: Hear us Jesus our Lord, our Saviour, our Brother our Friend.

Saviour, we know fine well how we need your help to live to our best. We look to you because you offer us forgiveness and new beginnings each day. We hear your words of forgiveness to the thief on the cross and your words to all who can hear them. You are our help and our protector. Hear us we pray: Hear us Jesus our Lord, our

Saviour, our Brother our Friend.

Jesus, you call us sister and brother. We know this to be the greatest thing, to be part of your family. You call us friends. So we look to come closer to you, sharing all our lives with our very best friend. Hear us we pray: Hear us Jesus our Lord, our Saviour, our Brother our Friend.

Loving God, teach us to love:

Ubi caritas et amor, ibi Deus est. (Hymn 801)

[Where there is charity and love, God is there.]

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
