Hymn: Immortal, invisible, God only wise (Church Hymnary, No. 132)

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains, high soaring above
thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all, life thou givest, to both great and small;
in all life thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

4. Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight.
All praise we would render: O help us to see
‘tis only the splendour of light hideth thee.

Reflection: Seen and unseen

Hymn: Be still, for the presence of the Lord (Church Hymnary, No. 189)

1. Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One, is here;
come bow before him now
with reverence and fear:
in him no sin is found – we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One, is here.

2. Be still, for the glory of the Lord,
is shining all around;
he burns with holy fire,
with splendour he is crowned:
how awesome is the sight – our radiant king of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord,
is shining all around.

3. Be still, for the power of the Lord,
is moving in this place;
he comes to cleanse and heal,
to minister his grace:
no work too hard for him – in faith receive from him.
Be still, for the power of the Lord,
is moving in this place.

Notices:

The Pauluskirche remains open, as it has done throughout the lockdown, on Tuesday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. till noon for private prayer. If you do choose to visit the church, please observe the general restrictions (physical distancing, etc.) which still remain in place.

The difficulty in preparing and posting digital worship is knowing whether it’s meeting the spiritual needs people have. Please send feedback on our worship toolkits (via the website contact) as well as your suggestions as to what you would like to see. The online team (currently Marcel, Jimmy, Michelle, Sebastian) is keen to develop and improve the ECC’s online offerings.

In response to COVID-19, the global prayer project Thy Kingdom Come from 21-31 May 2020 has prayer and care as one of its key themes. More information on the project and on various resources connected with it at:  https://www.thykingdomcome.global/

Our weekly offerings during worship are our congregation’s main source of income. The corona crisis has put a stop to this, so please consider making donations by bank transfer in order that the ECC may continue to cover ongoing costs. Bank account details are shown below. Thank you.
