ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Verses from Psalm 25 – New International Version)

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;

in you I trust, O my God.

No-one whose hope is in you

will ever be put to shame.

Show me your ways, O LORD,

teach me your paths;

guide me in your truth and teach me,

for you are God my Saviour,

and my hope is in you all day long.

Remember not the sins of my youth

and my rebellious ways;

remember, O LORD, your great mercy and

love, for they are from of old.

Good and upright is the LORD;

therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.

He guides the humble in what is right

and teaches them his way.

Hymn 153 * Great is thy faithfulness

PRAYER of APPROACH

When life is wonderful,

you are there, O God.

When life is unpredictable,

you are there, O God.

When our hearts are full of joy,

you are there, O God.

When our hearts are heavy from the cares

of the world, you are there, O God.

You are here with us, O God,

with us in our time of worship.

Merciful God, you made your covenant

with Noah and all the Earth – a promise

that you will always keep.

Here, in your presence, we acknowledge

that we do not always keep our promises.

It is tempting to take the easy way out, instead

of doing the hard work of following you.

It is tempting to live in the way of the world,

instead of living lives modelled on your

steadfast love for all people.

It is tempting to think we have all the answers,

instead of trusting in you.

Forgive us for the times we give in to

temptation and turn away from you.

Lead us in your way, O God. Amen.

DECLARATION of FORGIVENESS

God’s bow has been hung in the clouds – a

unilateral disarmament in spite of our sin. God

remains faithful to the covenant of steadfast love,

even when we are unfaithful.

Thanks be to God! Amen.
