ORGAN PRELUDE

INTROIT “Halleluia”

WELCOME and CALL to WORSHIP

(Verses from Psalm 66)

Praise God with shouts of joy, all people!

Sing to the glory of his name; offer him

glorious praise! Say to God,

How wonderful are the things you do!

Your power is so great that your enemies

bow down in fear before you.

Everyone on earth worships you;

they sing praises to your name.

Come and see what God has done,

his wonderful acts for all people.

He changed the sea into dry land;

our ancestors crossed the river on foot.

There we rejoiced because of what he did.

Praise God, all nations;

let your praise be heard!

Hymn 153 * Great is thy faithfulness

PRAYER of APPROACH

All: Eternal and loving God, we come

before you in awe, for you have

promised never to leave us. Even

when we feel most lost and alone,

still you are with us, as comforter,

advocate, and friend. Always help us

to know and celebrate your presence.

Leader: Forgiving God, unseen yet known, we

hear the world speak in power and

greed. Yet we hear you speak to us in

love and grace. May our lives be the

echo of your voice.

All: When we are persuaded by the want

that leads to hurt, the hankering that

leads to greed, the yearning that

leads to selfishness:

Right: forgive us for following the wrong way;

may we turn again and follow you.

All: When we are persuaded by the spin

that becomes truth, the belief that

becomes dogma, the fears that

become intolerance:

Left: forgive us for following the wrong way;

may we turn again and follow you.

Leader: Our God, seeing and forgiving, knowing

and loving,

All: we turn from following the wrong way

and face you with our confessions.

Hear us. Forgive us. Amen.

WORDS of ASSURANCE

No one has seen God.

Yet Jesus has shown us God. Jesus is the

assurance of God’s forgiveness. So know,

friends, that through faith in Jesus all our sins

are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.
